An HKCU game powered by Aornos Simulations
Welcome to Sengoku Jidai! This guide explains how to use the Discord bot that powers the game. If you've never used a Discord bot before, start with Section 1 — it covers everything you need to know before touching any commands.
For game rules, mechanics, province effects, and strategy, see the separate Game Guide.
Discord bots use slash commands, which means every command starts with a forward slash (/). You don't type these in regular chat — you type them in the message box, and Discord shows you a menu of available options.
How to use a slash command:
/. A menu will pop up listing available commands.player) and the menu will filter down.Important things to know:
/army, all economic commands are under /econ, and so on.Before you can use any order commands, you need to register your character.
/player registerRegisters you on the game roster. The bot reads your Discord display name and your server roles to automatically assign your character name, clan, and title. Run this command once when you first join the game. You can run it again if your nickname or roles change and you need to update your entry.
After registering, use /player status to confirm everything looks correct.
These commands let you look up information about yourself, your clan, and the game world. None of these submit an order — they are read-only.
/player statusShows your full character sheet: character name, faction (clan), title, current location, current mission (if any), mission location, order details, Authority Score, and status.
/player current-location-informationShows a detailed breakdown of the province you are currently located in, including terrain, RGO type, building slots, and stockpile stats in the format current / cap (+regen per turn).
/timeShows the current turn number, season, and year. Use this to track where you are in the game cycle.
/clan treasuryShows your clan's current Mon (currency) balance.
/clan membersLists all characters in your clan, along with their current location and title.
/clan holdingsLists all provinces owned by your clan, including terrain type, resource type, and province classification.
/clan check-knowledgeShows your clan's current Knowledge level and tech scores across all disciplines (Expansion, Development, Warfare, Piety, Learning).
/clan province-detail [province]Shows the full stats for one of your clan's provinces — identical in detail to /player current-location-information, but lets you pick any province your clan owns rather than only the one you're standing in. Stockpile stats are shown as current / cap (+regen per turn).
/army known-armiesLists all of your clan's armies with full unit breakdowns. Also shows any foreign armies located in or directly bordering your territory (with limited detail — you can see their total size but not their composition).
/army count-gunsShows your clan's current gun stockpile. Guns are consumed when running Firearm Drill orders.
These commands manage your clan's diplomatic relationships. Most are only usable by the Daimyo.
/clan designate-ally [target_clan] [ally: True/False] [secret: True/False]Daimyo only. Free action. Set another clan as an ally (True) or remove their ally status (False). Use autocomplete to select the target clan. Set secret: True to make the change without publishing it to the server.
/clan execute [target] [murder: True/False] [secret: True/False]Daimyo only. Free action. Order the execution of a character. Valid targets are any member of your own clan (regardless of location) and any foreign character currently at your capital. Set murder: False to cancel a pending execution order. Set secret: True to attempt a covert execution (lower success chance). The target must be selected from autocomplete — only eligible characters appear.
The commands below submit your character's order for the current turn. You can only have one active order at a time. Submitting a new order will replace your previous one.
When you submit an order, the bot confirms what you set. You can check your current order at any time using /player status.
Each order also determines where your character moves during resolution — this is noted under each command.
/army)/army lead-army [army] [province]Command one of your clan's armies to move one province. Select the army from autocomplete (only your clan's armies appear), then select the destination province (only provinces connected to the army's current location appear).
Movement: Your character moves to the destination province along with the army.
/army hire-samurai [province] [count]Recruit 1–3 Samurai at a province your clan owns, at a cost of 7 Mon each. Enter the number you want to hire (1, 2, or 3).
Movement: Your character moves to the selected province.
/army rally-samurai [province] [count]Shogunate only. The Shogunate can recruit up to 5 Samurai per turn at 6 Mon each — a better rate than /army hire-samurai. Only available if your clan currently holds the Shogunate.
Movement: Your character moves to the selected province.
/army produce-siege-weapons [province]Recruit one Siege Weapon for 10 Mon at a province that has a Siege Workshop building. Only provinces with a Siege Workshop will appear in autocomplete.
Movement: Your character moves to the selected province.
/army firearm-drill [army] [levy_type] [count]Convert regular levies in one of your armies into Firearm Levies, consuming guns from your clan's stockpile. Select the army, choose which levy type to convert (e.g., Spear Levies, Sword Levies), and enter the number to convert (1–50). Check your gun stockpile first with /army count-guns.
Movement: Your character moves to the army's current location.
/army bribe-hostile-army [army] [bribe_amount]Requires Learning 6. Attempt to bribe a foreign army with Mon. You bid an amount; if your bid meets or exceeds the army's strength threshold, the army is captured. If your bid is insufficient, the Mon is lost. Only foreign armies visible to your clan will appear in autocomplete.
Movement: Your character moves to the target army's current location.
/social)/social move [province]Move your character to any province. This is a simple repositioning action with no other effects. Be cautious: moving into a province controlled by an enemy clan risks capture or death.
Movement: Your character moves to the selected province.
/social establish-relations [target_clan]Open a diplomatic channel between your clan and another clan. The Shogunate already has channels with all clans. This is a prerequisite for certain diplomatic interactions.
Movement: Your character travels to the target clan's capital.
/social slander-opponent [target]Reduce another character's Authority by 5. This is a political attack that weakens a rival's standing in their clan.
Movement: Your character operates from your own clan's capital.
/social bestow-praises [target]Increase another character's Authority by 2. A goodwill gesture that boosts an ally's standing.
Movement: Your character operates from your own clan's capital.
/social promote-selfIncrease your own Authority by 10. No additional options needed.
Movement: Your character operates from your own clan's capital.
/social claim-daimyoAttempt to seize the Daimyo position within your clan. Only works if you are not already the Daimyo. See the Game Guide for the full rules on Daimyo succession.
Movement: Your character operates from your own clan's capital.
/social claim-shogunateDaimyo only. Attempt to claim the Shogunate. Requires your clan to have at least 25% more provinces and units than the current Shogun, AND higher Authority than the Shogun.
Movement: Your character operates from your own clan's capital.
/econ)/econ tax-province [province]Convert a province's tax stockpile into Mon (spendable currency). Only one character per faction can tax a given province per turn. Your primary source of income — use this on provinces with large tax stockpiles.
Movement: Your character moves to the selected province.
/econ recruit-levies [province]Convert a province's manpower stockpile into military units. The unit type depends on province buildings (Forge → Sword Levies, Bowyer → Archer Levies, Stables → Cavalry, default → Spear Levies). Only one character per faction can recruit in a given province per turn. Check buildings first with /clan province-detail.
Movement: Your character moves to the selected province.
/econ lead-trade-mission [province] [guns (optional)]Conduct a trade mission at a coastal province your clan owns, gaining 1 Mon and 1 Knowledge. With Warfare 4, you may optionally purchase 0, 1, or 2 Guns for 2 Mon each. Only coastal provinces appear in autocomplete.
Movement: Your character moves to the selected province.
/econ oversee-construction [province] [building]Build a structure in one of your provinces. Select the province, then select the building from autocomplete. Construction costs Mon from your treasury. Building availability depends on province type and RGO.
Movement: Your character moves to the selected province.
/econ meditate [province]Gain 1 Knowledge. Performed at one of your owned provinces. Use when you need Knowledge but don't have a coastal province available for a trade mission.
Movement: Your character moves to the selected province.
/econ administrate-province [province]Requires Development 2. A combined action that converts a province's tax stockpile to Mon and its manpower stockpile to units in a single order — the equivalent of doing both /econ tax-province and /econ recruit-levies at once.
Movement: Your character moves to the selected province.
/econ conduct-experiments [province]Requires a Laboratory building in the selected province. Convert Mon from your treasury into Knowledge at a rate of 3 Mon per 1 Knowledge. Only provinces with a Laboratory will appear in autocomplete.
Movement: Your character moves to the selected province.
/econ recruit-characterRequires Learning 4. Costs 10 Mon. Recruit a new character for your clan, provided your clan is below its character limit (4 normally, 5 if your clan holds the Shogunate). Your character must be at your clan's capital when submitting this order.
Movement: Your character operates from your clan's capital.
/letter)Letters allow your character to send written messages to other clans. Letters are staged as "pending" and dispatched at turn resolution — they are not instant. Each clan has a private thread where their letters appear.
/letter write [to_clan]Write a letter to another clan. Select the target clan from autocomplete, then fill in the letter content in the pop-up modal (up to 1900 characters). Once submitted, the letter appears in your clan's private thread with Pending status and will be dispatched at end of turn.
Dispatch rules at turn resolution:
Letters sent to another clan appear in that clan's private thread showing the sender's character name, title, and faction.
One order per turn. Each character can do exactly one thing per turn. Think about what matters most before committing. Check your current pending order with /player status.
Use autocomplete. When a command asks for a province name, army name, building, or character name, always use the dropdown suggestions. Freehand entries that don't match the list will be rejected.
Only you see your responses. Every bot response is private to you. Run status commands freely — they don't affect gameplay and no one else can see them.
Check your province before recruiting. Different buildings produce different unit types. Use /clan province-detail before submitting /econ recruit-levies so you know what you'll get.
Coordinate with your clanmates. Most orders have a conflict check — two characters from the same clan cannot submit the same order type targeting the same province in the same turn. Coordinate before submitting to avoid wasting actions.
If you get an error, read it carefully — it usually tells you exactly what went wrong (e.g., "You are not on the roster," "Only the Daimyo may do this," "Another character in your faction is already..."). If you're stuck, contact an admin.
